I have seen some bird of paradise cut to the ground already starting to regrow. Not all of them will but I think most. Your bottlebrush are probably dead to the ground so cut down and then stand back they should regrow also. Asparagus in ground will regrow just fine, in pots probably not. Don’t be in a rush to water, you can’t force the new growth, but if the soil is dry that’s a reason to water
